About this course

Dynamo is often taught as a series of disconnected exercises. This course works the other way round: start from a task that is genuinely slow in Revit, then build the graph that handles it, including the parts that usually break — nulls, list structure, and what happens when the model is not as tidy as the example.

What you will learn

  • Read and write Revit element parameters from Dynamo
  • Work confidently with list structure, the usual source of broken graphs
  • Handle nulls and missing data instead of assuming a clean model
  • Package a working graph so other people on the project can run it

Planned course content

The outline below shows how the course is structured. Lessons appear here as they are recorded.

  1. Nodes, wires and the execution model.

Lessons for this module have not been recorded yet.

  2. Selecting elements and getting parameters out.

Lessons for this module have not been recorded yet.

  3. The concept that breaks most graphs.

Lessons for this module have not been recorded yet.

  4. Setting parameters without damaging the model.

Lessons for this module have not been recorded yet.

  5. Making it usable by someone who did not build it.

Lessons for this module have not been recorded yet.

Who this is for

  • Revit users starting with Dynamo
  • Anyone whose graphs work on a test model and fail on a real one

Prerequisites

  • Comfortable in Revit
  • No prior Dynamo experience required
